How far we've come
Corinne ErasmusDriven by a profound desire to give back, Essentially Natural launched The One Percent Movement in 2021. Fuelled by public donations, and hand-in-hand with incredible NPOs - we’ve been part of community projects that are truly transforming lives!
Since those early days, The One Percent Movement has grown into something far bigger than we imagined. Together with our donors and partners, we’ve poured love and energy into a wide variety of projects—each one aimed at nourishing, uplifting, and restoring dignity.
What we’ve achieved so far:
Feeding with dignity: From hosting food drives to supplying thousands of nutritious meals and refurbishing four soup kitchens in Fisantekraal, we’ve made sure hungry bellies are filled with love.
Supporting the supporters: We actively care for the women who run soup kitchens in Fisantekraal - treating them to workshops, creative activities, and special TLC - because when they thrive, their communities do too.
Greening and growing: Hundreds of trees planted, school playground brightened, and outdoor spaces at Durbanville MES and Aristea Home for the Elderly transformed into places of joy and rest.
Restoring community spaces: Refurbishing staff rooms, service areas, and public spaces to be both functional and beautiful.
Caring for animals: From donating kennels, funds, and food to refurbishing the Fisantekraal Animal Welfare charity shop (which helps fund their vet clinic), we’ve extended our reach to support the voiceless too.
Sharing warmth: Hosting clothing and knitwear drives for the homeless and for under-resourced new moms, ensuring families stay cosy and cared for.
Investing in kids: Supplying stationery, hosting fun read-aloud days, and creating opportunities that spark learning and imagination.
Rallying community support: From markets that raised funds for the homeless to countless smaller initiatives, every event has shown what’s possible when people come together.
How you can help:
Whether your 1% is R10 or R1000, it doesn’t matter — a culture of giving back is what counts. Our small team has learned that a little really goes a long way; most of our work is fuelled by elbow grease, creativity, and a keen desire to do good. Every bit of support helps us continue transforming lives, uplifting communities, and caring for the voiceless — both human and animal alike.
We welcome contributions of all kinds. You can support us by:

- Non-perishable food
- Clothes, knitwear, linen, homeware, furniture
- Share your skills – builders, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, handymen (and women!)… we’ll happily put your talents to use.
