The playground Garden of Faith at Fisantekraal Primary School has reached its biggest milestone yet—the addition of shade! This much-anticipated improvement has been a long time coming, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. The playground, known for its intense heat and dry conditions, has always lacked a reprieve from the sun. Now, with two large shaded areas, the children finally have a place to escape the scorching heat, making playtime far more enjoyable. These shaded spaces will also double as outdoor classrooms, offering a refreshing change of scenery on those unbearably hot days when the indoor classrooms feel like ovens.

This incredible step forward was made possible by the generosity and support of so many wonderful people. First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you to Kenridge Primary School for their generous donation—without which none of this would have been possible. A special thanks to our dear friends, the Kellys, whose contribution allowed us to dream twice as big! Because of them, we could install a second shaded structure far sooner than expected, rather than having to wait months or even years.

Our gratitude also goes to Willie Reynecke and his team from JR Removals & Woodwork for crafting the beautifully made structures that will provide comfort for years to come. And, of course, to our incredible Dream Team—James, Sydney, and Kefasi—for their expert work in securing the retaining blocks and ingeniously incorporating seating under the shade nets. Their hard work and dedication continue to shape this space into something truly special.

With each step, the Garden of Faith is growing into a sanctuary of learning, laughter, and respite. We can’t wait to see how this space continues to evolve and how the children of Fisantekraal Primary School will benefit from it for years to come.
