Fisantekraal Animal Welfare Charity Shop Gets a Facelift: Phase One Success!

The Fisantekraal Animal Welfare (FAW) charity shop is more than just a storefront—it’s a beacon of support, providing affordable essentials to a community in need and helping to fund FAW’s essential animal sterilisation, medical care and education services. These efforts are vital in promoting responsible pet ownership and improving conditions for animals in the area, and they’re made possible entirely through public support. Recognising the importance of this shop and its impact, The One Percent Movement recently initiated a refurbishment to enhance the shop’s functionality, making it a more inviting and practical space for all.

The One Percent Movement team, alongside Nonnie (the shop’s tireless keeper), Alex, Dollah, Kefasi, Oom David, and Ricardo, transformed the shop’s interior in just a day! Together, they tackled an extensive clean-up and reorganisation, adding a convenient check-out nook, sturdy shelving, a new clothing rail, and even levelling out uneven bricks for safer access. Special thanks to the Kellys, whose generous donation helped bring this vision to life.

There's still a long way to go, but we are so excited to keep eating this elephant, one bite at a time! Looking ahead, we plan to add even more clothing rails (the shop’s most in-demand items), additional shelving, and a furniture section to enhance the shop’s offerings.

To keep the momentum going, we’re seeking donations of:

• Clothing hangers
• Clothing (especially children’s), homeware items, and pet food
• Clear plastic sheeting for weatherproofing the shop’s rear area

With community support, we’ll continue to make FAW’s shop a more welcoming, functional space for all!
