Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful answers about choosing and using products in this collection.

What are colourants used for in skincare and cosmetic products?

Colourants are used to add or adjust the appearance of a product. In this collection, they are commonly used in soaps, bath products, masks, makeup-style formulations, and other cosmetic applications where colour matters.

Are all cosmetic colourants the same?

No. Colourants can vary in source, shade strength, solubility, and how they behave in different formulas. Some are better for oil-based products, while others work better in water-based or powder formulas.

Can I mix different colourants together?

Yes, many formulators blend colourants to adjust tone, depth, or final shade. It is usually best to test small batches first so you can see how the blend behaves in your specific formula.

Can colourants stain skin, moulds, or packaging?

Some can, especially at higher usage rates or in strongly coloured formulas. It is a good idea to test the colourant in your specific product and packaging before making a full batch.

When should I add a colourant to my formula?

That depends on the type of colourant and the product you are making. Some are best dispersed into oil or water first, while others are added during cool-down or at the final mixing stage.
