read aloud day at fisantekraal primary school 000

On 5 February, the world celebrated World Read Aloud Day, a special day dedicated to the joy of reading and the power of storytelling. It’s an opportunity to highlight the importance of reading aloud to children, helping them develop literacy skills, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love for books.

When Isabel Steenkamp, head of the Grade 1 class, reached out to ask if we knew someone who could read to the little ones, we immediately thought of our friend Pinky!

Pinky did not disappoint! An avid reader and natural entertainer, she put on a delightful show! The excitement was palpable as she read a fun and engaging story, much to the children's amusement. Squeals of delight filled the room, and the children peeled with laughter. She also shared why she loves to read: Imagination! Reading opens doors to new worlds, helps children think creatively, and offers a moment of escapism while stimulating cognitive and emotional development—making it an essential part of early childhood education.

A heartfelt thank you to Pinky for her enthusiasm and to our friends at Fisantekraal Primary for the invitation. To the little ones – may you always keep reading, dreaming, and letting your imaginations take you on incredible adventures!

Over the past few years, we have refurbished the principal's office, donated essential stationary, given the staff room a much-needed makeover, and the greening of the school playground is an ongoing project, to mention but a few. This would not be have been possible without donations from the public!
