Hydrosols, also known as floral waters, flower waters or distillates, are the fragrant water by-product of steam-distilling plant materials to extract essential oils. Hydrosols are far less concentrated than essential oils, making them more suitable for skin care, medicines or for use as a carrier. In fact, in ancient times people used water distillation specifically for these floral waters and not for the essential oils.
