Essentially Natural Sodium Lactate Solution is a 60% aqueous solution of sodium lactate, the salt of lactic acid. It is a popular humectant in skincare and haircare because it helps attract and hold water for a comfortable, moisturised feel. In soap making, it is commonly added to help harden bars faster so they unmould sooner and last longer. This ingredient is ECOCERT and COSMOS approved and is used at low percentages in formulas.

Also available in Sample Sizes.

Q: Will sodium lactate make my lotion feel sticky?
A: At typical use levels it usually feels comfortable, but higher levels can change skin feel, so adjust gradually.

Q: Why is it helpful in soap making?
A: It can help harden soap sooner, making unmoulding quicker and improving bar longevity.

Q: Can I heat it during processing?
A: Yes, it can be hot or cold processed, but many formulators add it to the water phase and keep temperatures moderate.
