Extracted from the nuts of the American palm tree native to Central America, Batana Oil is a cold-pressed, nutrient-dense oil with a thick, rich texture. Also known as Ojon Oil, Batana Oil is famed for its deeply nourishing properties that cater to both hair and skin needs.   • Leave-In Conditioner: After washing your hair, apply 1 tsp of Batana Oil mixed with 1tbs of a lighter oil like Jojoba or Argan Oil to damp hair, focusing on the ends.   • Styling Aid: Use a few drops of Batana Oil as a finishing touch to tame flyaways and add shine to your styled hair. A small amount goes a long way!

It’s versatile, can be customised by adjusting the ingredients, and is ideal for natural, gentle hair styling. Batana Oil Powered Hair Gel

Ingredients

Phase A

15.10% Water (base)

70.00% Aloe Vera Liquid-Gel (acts as a hydrating base, providing moisture)

0.20% Sodium Gluconate (chelating agent)

5.00% D-Panthenol Gel (ProVitamin B5) (adds shine, helps strengthen hair, and improves elasticity, which makes it great for frizz control and defining curls)

Phase B

3.00% 1, 3 Propanediol (acts as a humectant, helps with softness and manageability)

2.00% Guar Gum (adds thickness to the formula, providing a mild hold and enhancing the gel texture)

Phase C

3.00% Nautica Symbio®Solv Clear Plus (solubiliser)

0.10% Batana Oil 

0.50% Essential Oil of Choice (you can use whatever oil you like for fragrance and additional haircare properties)

0.10% Vitamin E Oil (nourishes and protects hair, adds shine, and provides antioxidant benefits)

1.00% Geogard 221 (natural preservative)

q.s. pH Adjuster (Read more on pH adjustment here)

Method

  1. Stir the ingredients listed in Phase A gently until everything is smoothly combined.
  2. Stir the ingredients in phase B gently until they form a thick mixture (slurry). Then, add phase B to phase A, and stir gently until fully blended.
  3. Mix the ingredients in phase C together, then slowly add them to the combined A/B mixture, stirring gently until everything is smooth.
  4. Check pH and let sit: Make sure the pH level is between 5 and 5.4. Cover the mixture and let it sit overnight. 
  5. Stir the product the next day to make sure it has a uniform gel-like consistency before pouring it into your container of choice.

Application Tips for Batana Oil:

  • For Curl Definition and Light Hold 

Apply a small amount to damp hair after washing. Work the gel evenly through the hair, either with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, focusing on areas where you want more definition (like curls or waves). Let it air dry for natural definition or use a diffuser on low heat if more volume is desired.

  • As a Leave-In Conditioner 

If you have drier hair, apply a pea-sized amount to damp or towel-dried hair, concentrating on the ends. This will help hydrate and smooth hair, making it more manageable and reducing frizz.

  • For Frizz Control 

Use a small amount on dry hair, applying it gently to areas prone to frizz or flyaways. It provides a light hold, helping to smooth the hair without making it greasy.
