Not the best

What I received looked nothing like the picture. Massive resin pieces that are way too large too be ground up. It's probably ok if you are burning it as an incense. I only bought these because my usual brand was out of stock. They also are not nearly as fragrant either.

Different use

Only deducted a star as I am not really using it for what it's intended. I'm removing the gum to get the pure resin to make infusions. With this process there is quite alot of sediment left behind, but the resin I have extracted I am very happy with. But even more happy with the service and help I received when querying about this product and my use of it.

This product is not as pungent as i anticipated because the product i purchased from somewhere else was, but melts different and needs lots of heat. This product however surpasses the other products by far, it melts easy on incense burner with small candle and is NOT overwhelming, if you are new into incense burning and especially myrrh and Frankincense this is the way to go!! I buy a lot over the internet and if you want to see the real commitment of a company is how they pack stuff, yet again Essentially Natural have surpassed others by far, there is also a free gift!!! Yes - frankincense resin can be finely ground and infused into a carrier oil for facial use :)

Do kindly note that as with any botanical infusion, we recommend doing a patch test first before full application, especially on facial skin.

Yes, you can certainly make a frankincense extract from the resin, but isolating boswellic acids specifically does require specialised equipment. Home extractions are gentle and can produce a lovely cosmetic extract, but they won’t create a standardised or concentrated boswellic-acid extract like the commercial versions.

For topical, DIY cosmetic use, one could consider:
- an oil infusion using a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil or sweet almond oil.
- an ethanol-based tincture for use in skincare formulations.

These preparations may contain a small amount of boswellic acids, but the levels can vary. We’re also not able to advise on any extracts intended for ingestion.
