Soothe aches and reduce inflammation with Devil’s Claw – a healing root from the dry plains of southern Africa. Native to Namibia, Botswana, and the Kalahari, it has been an important remedy for the Khoisan and Indigenous peoples for generations. Traditionally brewed as a tea, it was used to ease joint pain, aid digestion, stimulate appetite, and support recovery after illness. It was also a key herb in cleansing tonics.
♡ Why we love it: Devil’s Claw’s strength comes from harpagoside, an iridoid glycoside that helps decrease inflammation and block pain responses in the body. Modern studies confirm its effectiveness for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and lower back pain, and suggest it may also benefit fibromyalgia and tendonitis. It’s supported by additional actives like procumbide and harpagide, which boost its anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits. Together, these compounds promote joint comfort, flexibility, and overall vitality.
Used topically, Devil’s Claw offers natural relief through its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In gels, balms, or creams, it helps ease redness, calm irritation, and soothe aching muscles or stiff joints.
Note: this listing is for the milled version. This differs from the powdered version as it is coarser, with larger particles that may have a rough or uneven texture.
Sizes: 200g, 500g, or 1kg.
