Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about choosing and using Essentially Natural ingredients.

What are the measurements for this recipe?

This recipe is designed to fill a 10ml lip oil bottle. Because each ingredient has a different density, the measurements use both millilitres (ml) and grams (g) for greater accuracy.

4ml Olive Squalane
1.5ml Pumpkin Seed Oil
2.5ml Avocado Oil
1.5ml Moringa Oil
0.2g Cocoa Powder

How do I make this DIY Lip Oil?
  1. Measure all of your liquid oils into a clean beaker or mixing container.
  2. Add the cocoa powder.
  3. Stir thoroughly until the cocoa powder is evenly dispersed throughout the oils.
  4. Carefully transfer the mixture into a clean 10ml roller bottle using a small funnel or pipette.
  5. Shake well before each use, especially if the cocoa powder has settled.
Can I use different carrier oils?

Yes. This recipe is highly customisable. You can substitute some of the oils with alternatives like castor, apricot kernel or coconut oil to create a different feel and finish.

Do I need to use cocoa powder in this DIY lip oil?

No. The cocoa powder is completely optional and is used to give the lip oil a soft, natural brown tint. If you prefer a clear lip oil or would like to customise the colour using a different oil-dispersible pigment, you can simply leave it out.

Keep in mind that cocoa powder is not oil-soluble, so it will naturally settle at the bottom of the bottle over time. Simply shake the bottle before each use to redistribute the colour.

If your lips still feel dry no matter how often you reapply lip products, the answer may not be using more. It may be creating a lip care routine that truly supports your lips.

This DIY Lip Oil does more than add shine. Made with a nourishing blend of lightweight plant-based oils, it helps soften, condition and lock in moisture while keeping your lips feeling comfortable throughout the day. A touch of cocoa powder adds a soft, natural tint that enhances your lips without masking their natural beauty.
