As a herbal preparation it is best known as a natural antidepressant, but in its infused oil form St. John’s Wort is a wonderful emollient, moisturiser and skin softener. It's an anti-inflammatory which makes it highly effective on sprains, bruises and varicose veins; a great soother for sunburn, bee stings, mild burns, some eczemas; and when used as a massage oil it can help relieve nerve pain. However, please exercise caution: St. John's Wort oil should not be applied to broken skin or open wounds. It is also not recommended for use on pets.
