Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about choosing and using Essentially Natural ingredients.

Can I use any essential oils for candle making?

Not all essential oils perform the same in wax. Some are stronger, lighter, or evaporate faster than others, which can affect both scent throw and balance. We recommend using tested, pure essential oils for more predictable results.

Why use only 25 drops of essential oil in 100g of wax?

More oil doesn’t always mean a stronger candle. Too much can affect how the wax sets, how the candle burns, and overall safety. This blend was tested for balance, performance, and appropriate dilution.

Can I use soy wax instead of beeswax?

Yes. Soy wax, beeswax, sunflower wax, rice bran wax, candelilla wax substitute, and carnauba wax can all work beautifully. Each wax has its own burn characteristics, scent throw, and finish.

Are essential oil candles safe around children or pets?

Natural doesn’t automatically mean suitable for every space. Always burn in a well-ventilated area, keep out of reach, and research individual oils if pets, babies, or sensitive individuals are nearby.

Can I gift the candle straight away?

For best results, allow your candle to fully set and cure for 24–72 hours before gifting or burning.

Why is my candle tunnelling instead of melting evenly?

Tunnelling happens when the candle doesn’t burn long enough on the first few burns, causing wax to melt only around the wick instead of reaching the edges. To help prevent this, allow your candle to burn until a full melt pool forms across the surface (usually around 1 hour per 2.5cm of container diameter.) Wick size, wax type, and container width can also play a role.
