There is something deeply special about celebrating Christmas in a place where kindness isn’t seasonal -- it’s lived out every single day.
This year, we had the privilege of joining Alletta and her remarkable team of volunteers from Alletta’s Soup Kitchen in Fisantekraal for their annual Christmas party. It was a day centred on gratitude, community, and celebrating both the children of the neighbourhood and the people who show up for them all year long.
Thanks to the generous support of Essentially Natural, we were able to put together sweet packets for 50 children, as well as provide sausages for hotdog rolls, cool drinks and ice cream to make the day feel like a proper Christmas treat.
In addition, vouchers were gifted to Alletta and her volunteer team as a small but heartfelt thank-you for another year of tireless service, compassion and care. Their work is often quiet and unseen, but its impact is anything but!
The children brought the celebration to life with two energetic dance routines and a beautiful nativity play. They performed with confidence, joy and a whole lot of pride -- a reminder of the magic that happens when children are given a safe space to shine!
After another year of walking this journey alongside Alletta, it feels fitting to end the year here, with shared food, shared laughter, and a shared sense of purpose. From the success of our Mandela Day Food Drive, which enabled us to ensured nutritious, cooked meals could be handed out through Alletta’s Soup Kitchen during her well-deserved festive break, to Christmas celebrations like this, the thread running through it all is simple: showing up, consistently, with care.
To Alletta, her family, and every volunteer who gives so generously of their time and heart -- thank you for being the steady hands and open hearts behind this community! And to Essentially Natural, thank you for helping make this day one of dignity, celebration and joy.
This is what Christmas looks like when it’s rooted in compassion, and carried forward, one shared moment at a time.

Juanita (The One Percent Movement) with Alletta.

One can learn a lot from someone's character by watching them deal with a string of tangled Christmas decorations... These two ladies were calm, peaceable and joyful!

Clearly, these two knew the kids' dances off by heart, and couldn't help joining in!

Joyful movement!!!
