Essentially Natural Lauryl Betaine is a mild amphoteric surfactant used to improve foam, mildness, and skin feel in cleansing formulations. It is sulfate free and works well in blended surfactant systems, helping products feel less stripping while still cleansing effectively. Lauryl betaine is valued as a viscosity builder and for stable lather across a range of water conditions. This ingredient is supplied as a liquid and is typically incorporated into the water phase of shampoos, body washes, and facial cleansers.

A: It means the ingredient is not a sulfate surfactant and is commonly used in sulfate-free cleansing concepts.
Q: Can lauryl betaine be used on its own as a cleanser?
A: It is usually blended with other surfactants for best performance, mildness, and viscosity control.
Q: Why does it help with thickness?
A: In many surfactant systems it can contribute to viscosity building and improve the structure of the finished cleanser.

Hi. I just wanted to ask if this works the same as a solubiliser? Does it allow oils to mix with water? Or do I still need a solubiliser?
Thank you.
Depending on the product it can act as a solubiliser. For example in shampoos/body wash/other bubbly products, you can add some oils in and they will be solubilised.
If you're just wanting to solubilise essential oils into water, then you'll end up with quite a foamy product if you use this. I rather recommend Symbiosolv Clear Plus as a better solubiliser.
I made a lash cleanser for my Holistics lash product range and I love the foaming and cleansing ability even at 9%! It successfully washes away waterproof mascara. I'm happy.
Good cleansing feel....also in skincleansing. Use within the propper range for an effective product
