Glass Evaporating Dishes are lab-grade vessels for concentrating solutions or driving off solvents to dryness. Made from Boro 3.3 glass that resists chemical attack and thermal shock, each dish has a flat base, curved sides and a pouring spout for clean transfers. Suitable for general lab use with hotplates or water baths when proper heat-practice is followed. DIN 12336 compliant.
♡ Why we love it: Tough borosilicate that copes well with routine heating and cooling. The spout and curved wall make swirling and pouring neat and predictable. A broad size range means you can match the dish to anything from micro tests to bulk crystallisations.
Sizes: 15ml (50x25mm), 45ml (60x30mm), 90ml (80x45mm), 170ml (95x55mm), 290ml (105x55mm), 320ml (115x65mm), 600ml (140x80mm), 1500ml (150x80mm) or 2500ml (200x100mm).
Uses
- Evaporate excess solvent to concentrate solutions
- Evaporating liquid until only the solid material is left
- Crystallise salts from solution
- Gentle boiling on a hotplate or in a water/oil bath with appropriate support
- Temporary reagent dish for weighing, mixing or decanting
Benefits
- Borosilicate 3.3 glass for high chemical and thermal shock resistance
- Flat base for stable heating and curved sides for efficient evaporation
- Integrated spout for tidy pouring and sample recovery
- Conforms to DIN 12336 for consistent lab performance
How to use
- Place on a tripod, wire gauze, ceramic top hotplate, water bath or sand bath; avoid direct flame contact with unsupported glass
- Increase heat gradually and avoid heating the dish empty
- To reduce spatter, use a watch glass cover or anti-bump aids and do not overfill
- Use appropriate PPE and handle hot glass with tongs or heat-proof gloves
- Allow to cool on a heat-safe surface before washing; avoid sudden temperature changes
Storage
Store clean and dry. Avoid hard knocks and sudden temperature swings. Nest or rack carefully to prevent chipping.
