Boost, balance and stabilise your products with sodium citrate. This white crystalline powder is the salt of citric acid - widely used in foods, cosmetics, cleaning, and healthcare. In food it provides a tart flavour while buffering and stabilising pH. Sodium citrate also functions as an acidity regulator and emulsifying salt in processed cheese - giving that smooth, aesthetically pleasing melt. It’s the cornerstone of rehydration solutions with glucose and salts, and even to raise the pH of urine, bringing comfort for those struggling with acidity.
♡ Why we love it: Sodium citrate plays a major role in DIY. In cosmetics it acts as a buffer in creams, lotions, and gels, and when paired with citric acid in bath bombs it adds extra fizz. Its balancing effect and skin mildness support the skin-friendliness of products, while enhancing preservation and protecting actives by holding them in a safe pH range. It also works as a chelator - binding calcium and magnesium ions to prevent discolouration and rancidity, and softening water. That same chelating action makes it a star in cleaning products, boosting detergents and helping remove scale from pipes, boilers, appliances, and any water-contact equipment.

What does food safe mean?
Food Grade: This refers to ingredients certified by an independent body (such as the FSA) as safe for human consumption. They are tested and produced under strict food-safe conditions. However, once repacked by a facility not certified by the Food Safety Authority (FSA), the product can no longer be sold or labeled as food grade - even if the original source was certified.
Food Safe: These ingredients are pure, originally food grade, and commonly used in food. They are handled in hygienic conditions, and our facility is inspected and approved as food safe by local municipal health authorities. However, as we are not a certified food production facility, we do not label these items as food grade. They are safe for personal use but not recommended for products intended for ingestion if being sold to the public.
