Burdock Root Cut is a traditional dried root that’s most often prepared as a simmered herbal decoction. It has a grounding, earthy flavour with a gentle bitter-root character that suits classic root-based blends. Many people include burdock in cleansing-style routines and digestive tea combinations, often enjoyed before or after meals. It can also be prepared, cooled, and used in simple rinse-off skin and scalp routines on intact skin.

♡ Why we love it: Burdock is one of those old-school roots that feels both practical and timeless. We appreciate ingredients that invite slower, more intentional preparation, and a good decoction does exactly that. Its earthy profile blends beautifully with other traditional roots and spices, and it fits our preference for simple, single-ingredient botanicals that give makers flexibility without unnecessary additives.

This product is certified: Vegan and Food Grade.

Also available in large pack sizes.

Q: Is burdock root naturally bitter?
A: It has a gentle bitter-root note, but the overall flavour is mostly earthy and grounding.

Q: What’s the difference between a decoction and an infusion?
A: A decoction is simmered to draw out flavours from tougher plant parts like roots, while an infusion is a quick steep more suited to leaves and flowers.

Q: Can I drink it cold?
A: Yes. Many people cool the strained tea and enjoy it chilled, especially when making a larger batch.

Q: Can I reuse the same root pieces for a second cup?
A: Often you can. The second simmer is usually lighter, so it works well when you want a gentler brew.

Q: What herbs pair well with burdock in blends?
A: It’s commonly combined with other roots and warming spices. Many people balance its earthy profile with brighter herbs like mint or citrus peel-style ingredients.

Q: Is burdock root caffeine-free?
A: Yes, burdock root is naturally caffeine-free.

Q: Why is thorough straining important for rinses?
A: Fine particles can linger in cut roots. Straining well helps keep rinses more comfortable and reduces residue on skin and hair.
