Nautica Geogard Ultra - ECOCERT is a naturally derived multifunctional preservative in powder form, used to help protect cosmetic formulations that contain water-soluble ingredients. It is widely used in creams, lotions, shampoos, and other water-based or water-containing products where dependable preservation is essential. Because it has no scent of its own and works well in lower pH systems, it is especially useful in products where you do not want the preservative to interfere with the final fragrance profile. This is a cosmetic formulation ingredient rather than a finished product.
♡ Why we love it: Geogard Ultra is practical, versatile, and refreshingly easy to work with. The powder format makes it simple to handle, and the lack of scent is a real advantage when you want your fragrance or essential oil blend to stay centre stage.

Faqs
Q: Why do formulators like Geogard Ultra in scented products?
A: It has no scent of its own, so it is useful in formulas where you do not want the preservative to alter the final
fragrance.
Q: Can I use Geogard Ultra in oil-only balms?
A: It is mainly suited to products with water-soluble ingredients, so it is not usually the right choice for fully
anhydrous oil-only formulas.

I am very frustrated. I used to use Geogard 221 but didn't like the smell in my products. So bought Geogard Ultra. First time added to my water phase but it made small crystals in my products after it all has cooled down. Now I have dissolved it in a little water from my water phase and added it during the blending phase. It has immediately changed the colour and the consistency of the cream. I am very frustrated now and angry because this is quite a pricy product and now I am stuck with 250 g of it and don't want to use it anymore. It worked better in a cold process for my Hyaluronic acid serum.
Hope there is something that I am not seeing or doing
Hi there
Is there anything available that I can substitute for Geogard ECT please?
Hi Juliette
I wanted to order Geogard , but you are out of stock, so i have ordered 2 samples of the Geogard Ultra. I am very new to formulating so don't understand all the ins and outs. I make a face cream that has a hydrosol and carrier oil. Am I to add the ultra in the hydrosol before or after the heating phase and before I add the oil to the hydrosol? I am used to Geogard right at the end of the formulating process.
Thank you
Hi Renee, I reserve a little bit from the water phase and use that to dissolve the Geogard then add at the end. Geogard does benefit from a buffer system with sodium citrate so remember to include that as well. It's just a matter of adding the sodium citrate to the Geogard solution and adjusting the pH. There are instructions for this on the product page
