At Fisantekraal Primary School, the dream of a “Garden of Faith” continues to take shape, one small, meaningful step at a time.
Not too long ago, this playground was nothing more than dust and open space. Today, it’s slowly transforming into something far more special. Four years ago, we planted trees -- tiny, hopeful things that asked for patience. Now, some are already offering shade and even flowering! The kind of progress that feels quietly magical...
Other changes may be smaller, but no less impactful: A recently installed push tap now gives the children easy access to drinking water, with far less waste. Simple, thoughtful, and making a difference every day!
Over time, we've added jungle gyms, benches, and shade nets, creating a space where children can play, rest, and just be kids. Most recently, another jungle gym was installed by our incredible team - James, Happy, Sydney and Nelson - who consistently turn vision into reality. Where would we be without you guys?! We would also like to share our immense gratitude to Annalize and family for donating the jungle gym. It is going to make a whole bunch of kids very, very happy!
The crew also prepared a space for something that reaches beyond the playground itself: a recycling station, sponsored by the Western Cape Government. It’s a step towards something bigger than just a playground!
But, it’s not one big transformation that defines this space, but many small, thoughtful changes. And together, they’re growing something truly special!

Before we jump in, can we just take a moment to appreciate Happy's fabulous new hat (and one of our trees flowering in the background!)?!

Happy and Nelson, busy with the back-breaking work to clear and level the area where the recycling station container will be placed.

Voila! Mrs Loggenberg, the principal of the school, looking ecstatic!

A push tap: Something so deceptively simple!

Never a dull moment with James... He endured a lot of teasing about his digging technique!

You see, James, Sydney knows what he's doing!

What is needed at the Garden of Faith?
- Manpower! First prize would be a sponsor to employ a gardener to do regular maintenance at the garden.
- Spekbome. We would like to create a hedge all around the perimeter of the playground fence.
- Retaining wall blocks and cement to create a level, mini soccer field.
- Treated wood planks (that can withstand the elements) to create bench seats.
Whether your 1% is R10 or R1000, it doesn’t matter - a culture of giving back is what counts. Our small team has learned that a little really goes a long way; most of our work is fuelled by elbow grease, creativity, and a keen desire to do good. Every bit of support helps us continue transforming lives, uplifting communities, and caring for the voiceless - both human and animal alike.
We welcome contributions of all kinds. When in doubt, just reach out and ask — there’s always a way to make a difference!
