Stabilise, smooth and brighten with cream of tartar. This fine white powder is a multi-use wonder and natural by-product of winemaking. In the kitchen it’s best known for combining with baking soda (2 parts cream of tartar : 1 part baking soda) to make baking powder, helping cakes, biscuits, and quick breads rise. It also stabilises whipped egg whites for meringues, prevents crystallisation in syrups and sweets for a smoother texture, and even helps retain the colour of boiled vegetables.
♡ Why we love it: Cream of tartar is a quiet all-rounder for both DIY and home use. In the home it helps lift stains, brighten whites, and gently polish brass, copper, and aluminium - often mixed with vinegar or lemon juice as a natural paste. For formulators it can buffer pH, add mild cleansing to scrubs, and give bath bombs extra fizz alongside citric acid and bicarb.
Sizes: 100g, 250g, 500g or 1kg.
Also available in Sample Sizes.

What does food safe mean?
Food Grade: This refers to ingredients certified by an independent body (such as the FSA) as safe for human consumption. They are tested and produced under strict food-safe conditions. However, once repacked by a facility not certified by the Food Safety Authority (FSA), the product can no longer be sold or labeled as food grade - even if the original source was certified.
Food Safe: These ingredients are pure, originally food grade, and commonly used in food. They are handled in hygienic conditions, and our facility is inspected and approved as food safe by local municipal health authorities. However, as we are not a certified food production facility, we do not label these items as food grade. They are safe for personal use but not recommended for products intended for ingestion if being sold to the public.
