Soothe pain, stiffness, and inflammation naturally with Devil’s Claw. Native to the dry regions of southern Africa – particularly Namibia, Botswana, and the Kalahari – this powerful root has long been relied on by the Khoisan and other Indigenous peoples. Traditionally brewed into tea, it was used to relieve joint discomfort, calm inflammation, aid digestion, and stimulate appetite. It was also a popular ingredient in tonics believed to “cleanse the blood.”
♡ Why we love it: Devil’s Claw owes much of its power to harpagoside, its most studied active compound. This iridoid glycoside helps reduce inflammation and block pain-causing pathways in the body. Modern research supports its traditional uses, showing benefits in easing stiffness and joint pain related to osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and even lower back pain. It may also help with tendonitis and fibromyalgia. Alongside harpagoside, compounds like procumbide and harpagide enhance its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, promoting better mobility, digestion, and vitality.
Topically, Devil’s Claw offers antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects from its phenols and flavonoids, helping calm redness and irritation. When used in balms or creams, its active compounds penetrate to relieve sore muscles and inflamed joints.
Size: 100g.
