Irish Moss Cut is a dried sea moss from Chondrus crispus , also known as carrageen moss, traditionally used in food, herbal preparations, skincare and haircare. When simmered, it releases a mucilaginous gel that gives body, slip and soothing texture to drinks, gels and DIY formulations. Irish moss is naturally rich in minerals, including iodine, and is traditionally used for dry cough comfort, throat comfort, digestive soothing and mineral-rich tonic routines. In cosmetic use, its gel is valued for hydration, softness, slip and a light film-forming feel in rinse-off skin and hair preparations.
♡ Why we love it: Irish moss is wonderfully versatile, moving easily from kitchen thickener to soothing gel to moisturising hair and skin ingredient. Its natural gelling quality gives formulations a soft, cushiony feel without needing complicated processing.
