Spekboom is a juicy leafed shrub indigenous to South Africa and the Eastern Cape in particular. Spekboom is renowned for its ability to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and you will often find it repotted into smaller pots for sale at markets, and used in environmental initiatives.
It is a water-wise plant, needing very little water to survive, while creating a biodiverse area for other flora and fauna to live in.
Spekboom is also fabulously rich in in minerals and vitamins, which makes this plant a source of food for many animals in the wild.
All of this makes spekboom amazing for skin too! Think of it as a hydrating electrolyte for your skin.
