Dried Senna Powder is mostly used as a powerful cathartic in the treatment of constipation. (It stimulates the intestinal peristalsis, triggering bowel movement some 12 hours later.)

How to use
- Infusion: Pour 1 cup of boiling water onto ¼teaspoon (1 -2 mg) of powder. Leave for 10-15 min. Strain and drink morning and night. Will have an effect 6- 12 hours later.
Warnings
- Do not use for longer than 10 days
- Always remember that constipation is the cause of something else and this should be sought and dealt with
- Habitual use will cause lazy bowel syndrome
- Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Overdose can lead to painful stomach cramps and diarrhea
- Continuous use can lead to potassium deficiency
- Chronic use of sennoside laxatives often causes pseudomelanosis coli and that is lately discovered to be associated with increased colorectal cancer risk
