Marshmallow Root is a long-trusted herb for calming irritated tissues – whether in the digestive system or on the skin. Also known as white mallow herb, it has been a staple in traditional practices like Western herbalism, Ayurveda, and Greco-Arabic medicine. Traditionally, it was taken to ease sore throats and dry coughs, relieve digestive upset, settle irritated stomachs and bladders, and applied topically to soothe wounds, burns, and eczema.
♡ Why we love it: Marshmallow Root is naturally rich in mucilage, flavonoids, phenolic acids, starches, and pectin. Together, these compounds give it its renowned soothing qualities – from calming the throat and lungs to easing the stomach and urinary tract. It’s also supportive for heartburn and bladder irritation. Because it’s so gentle, Marshmallow Root is ideal for those with sensitive digestion or delicate skin.

My dog (Pit Bull X) has suffered from digestive issues most of her life, and at one point, ended up in hospital with acute pancreatitis.
Her latest symptoms being low B12 and GERD (at 9 years old). The regular Vets wanted to put her on regular anti-acid/proton pump inhibitor therapy. After a little research, it became obvious that the standard protocol would only exacerbate her issues.
I turned to a combination of marshmallow root tea mixed into her food and Betain HCL capsules added to increase her stomach acid while soothing her digestive tract. Problem solved! Now her B12 level has improved, and her symptoms have disappeared.
