Henna Red Powder (Lawsonia inermis) is a 100% natural plant dye for hair and a versatile colourant for DIY cosmetics. It bonds to the hair's keratin to create a translucent red tone that blends with your natural colour, giving bright copper to deep auburn results depending on your base shade. Many users also enjoy the way henna leaves hair feeling stronger, glossier and fuller. On very dark hair it adds warm red highlights rather than a dramatic colour change. The fine powder mixes easily into a paste for smooth application and even coverage.
♡ Why we love it: Single-ingredient, plant-based colour with no ammonia, PPD or synthetic fragrance. Deposits translucent colour that looks lived-in and natural rather than flat. Doubles as a strengthening, shine-boosting hair treatment while it colours.
Size: 100g.

I've been wanting to darken my hair for a long time, but with Henna. I've heard Henna is more hair friendly. I've been researching Henna for more than 4 months and was very excited when I found "Essentially Natural" that not only sells Henna, but the website has a very helpful blog on Henna that describes how you can apply Henna to get different shades of brown to black. This blog has been so helpful. After months of research, I finally went through with Henna. I mixed Henna Red with Henna Cassia (Alkaner) and Henna Black (Indigo) on Day 1. On Day 2 I used only Henna Indigo. It was scary to go through with it, but I am very glad I did it! I love my hair color now. I can't stop looking at it in the mirror. I feel like a different person. Almost like the saying that when you change your hair it feels like you've been on a vacation. It's true. For me the whole Henna experience has been relaxing and fun and I feel like I have control over the color result that I get. There is a leaflet in the box that explains how you must mix and apply the Henna brand. But the information is also on the "Essentially Natural" website. I will be purchasing more of this product as I want to maintain this hair color. I also added Aloe Ferox Powder to the Henna mix for moisture. My hair felt soft and was not dried out at all after the whole process. The Henna washed out easy from my hair with water only. I am happy I found Henna to darken my hair.
This was the first time I used henna to colour my hair, and I'm very pleased with the outcome. It is definitely more time-consuming than regular chemical dye, but the benefits far outweigh that. My hair feels FANTASTIC, whereas it always feels extremely dry and brittle after using chemical dye. The colour was a bit oranger than I'm used to right after the first rinse, but has darkened beautifully after a few days. I love love love that it is natural - I feel the difference!
A brand I used before is no longer available and I have been looking for henna powder online for a few months. When I found this site I bought a few packets but this powder contains grains that were such a mission to remove from my hair. I henna my hair often and have never used a henna powder that contains grains like this one. It took much more water than usual to remove and after rinsing I had to spend a good amount of time brushing and shaking it out. Will try and sift the remaining packets before next use or just make a rinse instead. Really bummed. The search continues I guess.
This was the first time I bought henna and I found the paste very grainy/sandy and I'm not sure why that is. It also hardly leaves a stain. I even tried it on my skin and can only see the stain in
very bright light.
