Guar gum

I love this product. Very happy. I read up and they said I should use a 3:2 ratio when replacing Xanthan gum with Guar gum. As you use less in recipes it really makes it a great buy. I bake gluten free products out alot and I'm not dissipointed. Due to the gluten intolerance I have, Xanthan Gum really only leaves me with bowel problems, and with the Guar gum I can live a normal life again. Great service. Great product

Disappointed

I'm a regular customer and usually buy Xanthan gum but read up on this product and decided to try it. It is no where near as good as the Xanthan gum. You have to use nearly triple the amount to get it to work at all and the it separates later. Not happy with it at all. Wasted money throwing away my sauce.

Hello Andi,

Thank you for your feedback, although we're sorry to hear of your disappointment.

In some recipes, guar gum and xanthan gum can be interchangeable. However, it's crucial to test and adjust the quantities based on the specific properties of each gum and the desired outcome in your recipe. If you're forced to substitute one for the other, it's always best to start with a smaller amount and gradually increase until you achieve the desired texture and consistency.

Guar gum has a weaker thickening power compared to xanthan gum. If a recipe calls for xanthan gum, you will need to use more guar gum to achieve a similar level of thickness.

Xanthan gum is known for creating a smooth texture in recipes. It can provide a gel-like consistency. Guar gum, on the other hand, may produce a slightly different texture and mouthfeel. It can be more brittle.

Guar gum and xanthan gum can behave differently in the presence of other ingredients. Xanthan gum is often more effective in acidic environments, while guar gum may be less stable under such conditions. (Please consider the pH of your recipe.)

Please let us know if we can help in future!
