Get one of the most potent immune-boosting botanicals on the market: Barberry Bark. Native to Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa, Barberry Bark has been a cornerstone of health in Ayurvedic, Unani, and Traditional European herbal systems. Its tea was traditionally used to support the liver and gallbladder, ease digestive discomfort, help clear the skin, fight infections, and assist with general detoxification. It also pairs well with other familiar botanicals like Dandelion Root and Milk Thistle.
♡ Why we love it: Barberry Bark is naturally high in berberine - the compound responsible for its bright yellow colour, strong bitter taste (which is why it’s often taken in capsules), and incredible antimicrobial power. Berberine, along with other active compounds in Barberry Bark, has been found to stimulate bile flow and liver function, kickstart slow digestion, fight infections (especially, but not limited to Candida), regulate blood sugar, and strengthen the immune system against viruses and bacteria. It’s also fantastic for acne and inflammatory skin conditions - whether taken internally or used as a topical extract!
