This moisturising hair mask leverages the power of aloe vera gel and olive oil, while shea butter and cocoa butter are rich emollients that enhance the mask's consistency and effectiveness. Vegetable keratin fortifies the hair, reducing breakage and improving overall hair health.
Ingredients based on total volume of 200ml:
Instructions:
- In a heatproof bowl, gently melt the cocoa butter, shea butter, olive oil, and Montanov 68 MB using a double boiler. Heat to around 70°C to fully dissolve the emulsifier.
- In a separate bowl, warm the aloe vera liquid-gel to around 70°C.
- Slowly pour the aloe vera liquid gel into the oil phase while blending with an immersion blender or whisk. Continue mixing until the texture turns creamy.
- Allow the mixture to cool to below 40°C, then add vegetable keratin and Geogard 221. Stir well to ensure even distribution.
- Blend for another 1-2 minutes to ensure a smooth consistency.
- Transfer into a sterilised jar and store in a cool, dry place.
How to Use:
Apply the mask to clean, damp hair, ensuring even coverage. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cool water to remove the mask, then shampoo and condition. Use this mask once a week for added moisture and shine.
These DIY recipes are simple and effective ways to incorporate vegetable keratin into your hair care routine, offering both nourishment and protection. By using natural, easily accessible ingredients, you can create hair masks that provide the same benefits as commercial products without the added chemicals. With consistent use, your hair will become stronger, shinier, and more resilient, making these DIY treatments a valuable addition to your hair care regimen.

Hi there Jay,
Thank you so much for reaching out – I’m really sorry to hear that you’re experiencing difficulty with your hair.
I do want to be upfront and honest:
With severe or sudden hair loss, it’s important to first consider possible underlying causes (like hormonal changes, stress, nutritional deficiencies, illness, or medication). In those cases, we strongly recommend consulting a healthcare professional or dermatologist, as topical products alone can’t always address the root cause.
That said, we can suggest supportive, natural options that focus on scalp health and circulation, which may help create a better environment for hair growth over time:
- Rosemary & peppermint essential oils are commonly used to stimulate scalp circulation and support follicle activity
- Caffeine is often included in hair care for its stimulating effect on the scalp
- Pumpkin seed oil is traditionally associated with hormonal support and is sometimes used where hair loss may be hormone-related
- Jamaican Castor oil, Batana Oil and other nourishing oils can support scalp condition and help reduce breakage
These ingredients are best seen as supportive, rather than guaranteed regrowth solutions.
I hope that helps, please do reach out if you have any further queries.
Wishing you all the best,
Essentially Natural Support
