INCI: Bitter Cape Aloe

Aloe Ferox Powder is a powdered form of bitter Cape aloe, made from Aloe ferox for traditional wellness and DIY formulation use. It is valued for its cleansing, digestive-supporting and laxative properties, with naturally occurring anthraquinones contributing to its strong action. The powder format is convenient for small measured amounts, tincture combinations, food and beverage use, and selected DIY cosmetic recipes. This powder does not reconstitute with water to form aloe vera gel.

♡ Why we love it: Aloe ferox powder is compact, potent and easy to measure, making it a useful option for those who prefer a powdered botanical over crystals. It brings the same traditional bitter aloe character in a format that works well for careful, small-dose use and practical DIY projects.

Moisture for Henna

Depending on the quantity of Henna Powder Mix that I use, I add anything from 1 teaspoon to half a tablespoon to my Henna Powder mix and the results that I got was that my hair was feeling soft and not dry at all after I Henna it. I believe it is because I added this as a moisturizing agent to my Henna Mix. I will continue to use this product and explore other ways to use it.

Question about concentration

Hi there, I’m really looking forward to working with this ingredient, but I’d like to know what concentration it is - is it a 200x or 100x? Looking forward to your feedback so I can get going :)

Hi, this is pure plant material, not an extract. So the concentration is not 100x etc, but is 100% pure.

Aloe vera powder

I love the fact that genuinely this is a 100% raw organic aloe vera powder LOL, the strong smell !!!. It has a very strong unpleasant smell to it if you use too much. Not soluble in water.
Nonetheless it does have some conditioning properties. Personally I would not repurchase this product, but it was a fun experience using it.

The Avocado butter is great but the smell is rather overwhelming, I put so much essential oils to mask it but it's still very strong. Otherwise the products are great, and I liked the free gift.

I have never used aloe powder before but I did not enjoy dealing with an almost tar like sticky oily residue on all my utensils.

Good Day, I hope all is well on your side.

Happy New Year and all the best for 2025! I just have a quick question, I want to start a small skincare business this year and I really want to incorporate Aloe Ferox Powder. So the products I want to start off with are powdered face masks. Can I use Aloe Ferox Powder with French pink clay, Kaolin , Rosehip and other types of powders and which percentage do you think is the best to use Aloe Ferox powder at? Sorry for the long questions but I really just want to make good products for my future customers. Thank you so much, and I will be awaiting your response.

Kind Regards
Camerin Korkee

Essentially Natural

Hi there Camerin,

Thank you for the lovely message - Happy New Year to you as well and congratulations on starting this new journey!

Now, Aloe Ferox.
Aloe Ferox pairs very well with the products you listed, its skin-soothing, hydrating, and antioxidant-rich properties make it a great addition to powdered face masks.

With Regards to percentages:
- For a a gentle boost of hydration and nutrients while having the other products be the main attraction, consider having the Aloe Ferox Powder be between 5 - 10 %
- For a more prominent role in the mask, offering stronger hydrating and soothing benefits, consider 10 - 15 %

Remember that Aloe Ferox has a slightly fibrous texture, so make sure it blends evenly with the finer powders like clays. And try to make smaller test batches first - to test it out.

We think it's honourable that you are this caring about what you put into the world, and how you nourish your customers skin :)

Wishing you all the best and more!

How does one dissolve this product, or do you just let the tar sit at the bottom of the sprayer and shake it. Also how do you use it for your hair?

Essentially Natural

Hi there

The Aloe Ferox is water soluble, so it should dissolve into a water base.

You could include it in your hair mists, conditioners or shampoos - you could add it to a styling cream. Any product you formulate that has water, you could dissolve the Aloe into :)

What the Aloe Ferox would add is strengthening, protective and moisturising qualities - that can help with smoothening your hair out.

I hope that helps.

Kind Regards,
Essentially Natural Support
