Gentle Apricot Scrub
This is a slightly different take on a cream scrub, utilising high amounts of hydrating glycerine in place of water, an emulsifier for rinse off factor, and fine apricot grinds as the physical exfoliant.
It makes a thick paste that would actually be ideal for a squeeze tube, but I didn’t have one so I just put it in a tin.
Gentle Apricot Scrub
46% glycerine
1% xanthan gum
3% OliveM 1000
5% jojoba oil
5% apricot oil
38% apricot kernel scrub. You could also use a different fine exfoliant such as castor sugar
1% preservative
1% orange & cedarwood essential oils (optional)
Mix the glycerine and xanthan gum together in a beaker. In another beaker, heat the the OliveM 1000 and oils together until fully melted. Quickly pour the oils mixture into the glycerine mixture and blend with a stick blender until an emulsion is formed. Allow to cool then add the preservative and essential oils if using, blending well to thoroughly incorporate. Lastly, stir in the apricot kernel scrub.
To use, apply to damp skin, massage well, then rinse off.
Options and substitutions
You could add some mica powder to give your scrub a pop of colour!
You can use any other oils of choice in place of the jojoba and apricot
You could use any essential oils of choice
You can try a different O/W emulsifier such as Emulsifier HP 30
You can play around with the amount of scrub particles used, less or more depending on your taste
To use: apply to wet skin, massage in well and then rinse off with warm water.
Follow up with a moisturising toner and cream.

Hi Mariki, oh goodness! It’s there now :) This is a bit of a hybrid emulsion..
I missed the method instructions. Is it heated, phase A and phase B, or just mixed together?
Thank you.
