Hazelnut Oil - Our New Favourite

Hazelnut Oil

Hazelnut oil is primarily known for its wonderful skin benefits - particularly for oily and combination type skins. Read on for some delicious ways you can use it!

Hazelnut oil minimises pore size and regulates sebum production, hence its popularity for balancing oily skin. It is highly moisturizing too, contains a high concentration of antioxidants, and is a gentle oil, unlikely to irritate even sensitive skins. Hazelnut oil absorbs quickly and makes the skin feel smooth and toned. It has a slightly nutty aroma. It contains minerals as well as a good proportion of healthy fats. Because of this it is extremely nourishing for skin and hair, and a perfect emollient. It rehydrates the skin’s naturally occuring fatty acids and restores softness and elasticity to the skin. Use it to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, acne and aged skin.

Hazelnut oil is also beneficial to dry or damaged skin thanks to its high fatty acids and oils content. It contains phytosterols, vitamin E and stearic acids - all naturally occuring! Daily application of hazelnut oil can reduce wrinkles and the signs of aging skin. Hazelnut oil even has naturally occurring sun protection and is rated SPF 15.

Mix a little oil into your daily cream or moisturiser, or apply directly to the skin. It can also be mixed with avocado oil, sesame seed oil or walnut oil for extra sun protection and vitamin E. Use the oil as a gentle cleanser and makeup remover. It's also a great oil to use in massage as a carrier oil, as it doesn’t leave the skin feeling greasy.

Hazelnut is also great for hair! It protects your hair from dryness when colouring, and also nourishes your scalp and strengthens hair strands. Use it if you have dry or damaged hair or split ends. Massage a small amount into your scalp and hair and leave in overnight like a hair mask. Wash out in the morning.

Hazelnut is a delightful skin and hair oil that should definitely be included in your skincare routine.
