Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid with both exfoliant and humectant properties. It is produced naturally in the body (it's the stuff that gives you a ‘stitch’ during a workout) and is also found in yogurt and milk.

It can help stimulate collagen and strengthen the skin, which equals fewer fine lines and wrinkles. The hydroxy acids exfoliate the top layer of skin, helping smooth and even complexion, keep pores unclogged, brighten skin and even fade dark marks and discoloration.

Lactic acid, though well tolerated by most skin types, can still cause irritation. Follow up with sunscreen if using in the morning/daytime, as any type of exfoliant can make your skin more susceptible to sunburn.

Absolutely amazing! Watered down to ± 40%. Provided a definite peel for 2 - 3 days after application but my skin feels soooo good!

I bought this product after seeing a lactic acid gel peel recipe on the Naturally Essential blog. I followed the recipe and tried it the product. The results were amazing, my skin was glowing. I will definitely purchase more as this product is versatile and gentle on my skin. Love it!

I tried this product on my skin, first checking a small spot on the inside of my arm to check re-action , which was fine .. then applied to my face for ONLY 1 minute before washing off with plain water. The result was amazing , no burn , no redness and skin left shiny and glowing . I now look forward to using this once fortnightly as "no down time DIY face peel " at home . LOVE IT

I'm never going for a facial peel at a beauty parlour again

I religiously go for facial peels and have spent a fortune on them over the years. With the AHA products available on Essentially Natural (and doing my research) I doubt I will ever go for a peel at a beautician again. I mix this lactic acid half half with water (to a 40% solution) and leave on my face for 6min. Please YouTube for more detailed instructions.
