Dried Lobelia has a general depressant action on the central and autonomic nervous systems and on neuromuscular activitaminaminy. Its specific use is bronchial asthma and bronchitis.

INCI: Lobelia Siphilitica

Used in treatment of the following: spasmodic asthma, whooping cough, spasmodic croup, membranous croup, infantile convulsions, epilepsy, tonsillitis and pneumonia.

  AS A TEA

Infusion: pour 1 cup of boiling water over ¼ tsp of herb infuse for 0-15 min. Drink 3x/day

 

  • Side effects are similar to nicotine and tobacco and include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, tremors and dizziness
  • Do not use during pregnancy or lactation

Winter must have....

Normally drink as tea. Good for treating severe flu like symptoms, respiratory issues and pneumonia so it's definitely a winter must have. A little on the expensive side so I alternate between it and African Geranium especially because it's a little stronger and one shouldn't really drink it as frequently. I get very bad sinusitis, I'm a TB survivor and I also used to smoke so lobelia really helps. Lobelia with Spearmint, mullein and gotu kola also helped me when I was still trying to quit tobacco.
