Symbio®Solv Clear Plus is a powerful, natural solubiliser blend, ideal for use in transparent cosmetic products (including alcohol based and non-alcohol based). It is 100% naturally derived, and is wheat free and PEG free, thereby offering a good alternative to other similar products.

  • Can be formulated in a cold process, without or with small amounts of alcohol
  • Easy to handle and yields transparent aqueous solutions
  • Not compatible with vegetable oils and cationic substances.

    • Keep in mind that solubilisers are a form of surfactants so some foam will appear when stirred or shaken. Foam does disappear overnight.

For a transparent aqueous solution: 1:3 -1:5 (oil : solubiliser), max usage 4-5%.

For surfactants: 0.5% - 1.5%

Pre-mix Symbio®Solv Clear Plus with essential oils or other lipophilic substance to be solubilised at room temperature. Add water, the aqueous phase, or the surfactant base to the pre-mix, stirring gently. Solution should go from milky to clear. Adjust pH to 4.5 - 6.5 if necessary.

The solubility ratio will be different for every essential oil, so you may need to do some experimentation to find the correct amount of oil to solubiliser for the specific oil you are using.

Very foamy

Delivery was, as usual, quick and efficient.
Regarding the product, it foams as soon as it is shaken just a little as well as when it is dispensed from a spray nozzle, which is not ideal when using it in sprays. Also, the recommended usage rate results in a rather sticky product that must be thoroughly rubbed into the skin to get rid of the white foamy consistency of the spray. I will try to use it at a third of the recommended usage rate, which will hopefully sort out some of the issues.
