Berberis vulgaris, also known as common barberry or European barberry, is a species of flowering plant in the family Berberidaceae.
Its bark can be used medicinally as an astringent and anti-inflammatory agent. It has been traditionally used to treat a variety of ailments, such as diarrhea, stomach upset, and fever. The bark contains berberine, an alkaloid that has been shown to have antimicrobial properties, making it useful in the treatment of certain infections. How to use barberry bark
- Herbal Tea (decoction): Add 1 tsp of herb in 1 cup of water. Bring to the boil. Simmer for 10-15 minutes. Drink over the course of the day.
- Tincture: 1-2ml, 3 times a day.
